So, to immediately address the elephant in the room when it comes to comparing prospects to one another, I am going to develop the following grading scale.
I’m an idiot who can’t keep anything straight, so it’s just going to be a 1-10 scale for simplicity. Something I want to note:
I do not like or subscribe to round-based projections of players until the full class is done. I will release a full board and round projection after the completion of the class - all grades until then are accurate but will lack further context. Additionally, players cannot all be graded on a 1:1 scale, they all likely serve different roles in an offense. I will contextualize where I can.
For now, please use the grades as talent guides that can guide you to and from some of the better or worse players in the class.
The System:
10 - Obvious top pick. Immediate Pro Bowler, All Pro lock, Likely HoF.
9 - Several Pro Bowls + All Pros expected. Highly skilled and highly athletic
8 - Undeniable WR1 for a team the second he’s in the league. Multiple Pro Bowls.
7 - ProBowl potential. Immediate high end WR2/Low end WR1. Skill + Athleticism
6 - Intriguing, could be an impact player quickly. Mix of good athleticism/high skill.
5 - Contributor early but likely not an impact player. Athletic but unrefined, return ability a plus.
4 - Depth player with room for development to become a third option.
3 - Depth player/Special teams contributor who lacks athleticism but has 1-2 reliable skills.
2 - Lacks upside and technical skill. Does not possess the requisite athleticism for the position. Roster bubble player.
1- How did you even get this far?
This is the general idea. I will contextualize the why and how on grades on a player by player basis.
